Before The Endgame

YOU will want to see this short film.WE want to turn it into a feature.YOU can help! Click here to see how you can help yourself to a tax break, help support Nebraska film making, help support this film project, and help yourself to a viewing of “Before The Endgame”. “Before The Endgame” is as quirky as it is uplifting, and as entertaining as it is thought provoking.  A father/son relationship grows from a misunderstanding (do you like happy endings AND promising beginnings?), an actress in the role of waitress who’s really an actress in the role of a waitress, a stressed to the max cook, … and who wouldn’t like to see all of this getting interrupted by someone getting shot in the head? Before The Endgame – a teaser!

“Before The Endgame” is a film currently in production. This is a (still rough) teaser of the main scene of the short version of the film. Hopefully, extended filming for the full length version will take place in 2024 but your support will be needed to make that happen. Read more about the project at http://lasuena.com/tidings/2023/08/29/bte/ and find information on what support of this project can do for you at http://lasuena.com/tidings/donate/. THANKS!

Bones and Shadows – a sample

“Bones and Shadows” was written by Nebraska poet (Pushcart Prize winning poet!) John Philip Johnson and appeared in comic book form illustrated by Bob Hall (DC/Marvel legend). During covid I wanted a film project that didn’t require spending time in close quarters with multiple people so I did a Ken Burns treatment to the scanned pages. I liked it, John liked it, Bob liked it, and those that have seen it at film festivals also spoken well of it. This is an excerpt from the 5 minute piece.

Eat Like a Grand Master – a sample

A scene I really wanted to capture and I smile every time I watch it. The cast really captured it and the score (by Garrett Hope) was icing.

Jesse’s Chili – a sample

I had early ’60s Twilight Zone in my head when I made this, my first short film, and I summoned my inner Rod S. for the tractor death scene. This scene was the first time I was behind the camera and I’m very happy with my focus shift to the chicken wire and back. I was also happy that my wanting to work with not one, but two animals actually came off well.
